Speaking to Top Gear at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the program manager for the new MX-5 confirmed that a more hardcore, performance-oriented version of the Mazda MX-5 Miata is not in the works. Nobuhiro Yamamoto stressed that “It’s important not to get hung up on numbers,” adding that “the driving experience and feeling is more important than power.”

This also means that no additional engines will be available for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, at least for the immediate future. In the U.S., the new roadster will come equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.

The company is claiming that its 3D-printed car will accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, which is currently the fastest accelerating car in the world. And while startup companies are notorious for making ridiculous claims in order to get their names on the map, Divergent Microfactories might not be exaggerating based on the specs of its car, which is called the Blade.

Powering the Blade is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine sourced from a Michigan-based company, which allegedly makes 700 hp. That means it’s nearly double the 355 hp that the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and GLA45 AMG engine makes, which is currently the most powerful production four-cylinder engine. Now, for those that have paid attention to the aftermarket scene, making 700 hp from a four-cylinder engine isn’t entirely unheard of, but they’re not exactly reliable or meant for the street.

But none of those things matter when you’re out to just make a bold claim that your creation can best even the fastest accelerating car in the world. Really, the more important takeaway is that 3D-printed cars are entirely possible and with how Ford has been adopting the technology, don’t be surprised if 3D-printed products make their way into production vehicles in the next decade.

When it comes to product, this famous British sports-car builder plans to introduce its Evora 400 in December as a 2017 model. With a starting price of around $90,000 this 400-hp machine should provide plenty of smiles.

Curiously there will not be any 2015 or 2016 models of the Evora offered in the U.S. because they don’t meet our safety standards. To be sold here they’d have to be fitted with air bags. However, to satisfy customers they’ve been selling 2014s, which for whatever reason are exempt from this legislation.

On the business front, Lotus is integrating its U.S. headquarters with its engineering facility. The former is located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, the latter Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is right in the automotive industry’s heartland. This bit of corporate consolidation should be wrapped up by the end of July.

Beyond this, the company is bolstering its dealer footprint in North America. New stores in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Scottsdale, Arizona; and two in California will bring its total to 47.

Called the Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series (aka one of the longest car names we’ve ever seen), the special series is limited to just seven cars, each inspired by one of the seven Breitling jets. To celebrate the Breitling Jet Team performing across the U.S. and Canada this summer, Bentley’s Mulliner division has re-imagined the Continental GT Speed to mirror the distinctive look of the Breitling jets. On the outside of the custom Bentley Continental GT Speed luxury coupes is a duo-tone split of Hallmark and Onyx with the highlight color matched to the exact Pantone of Breitling’s unique yellow, reflecting the signature style of the L-39 Albatros Jets.

Naturally, the bespoke color theme carries into the cabin with unique sculpted seats accented by the same Breitling Yellow shade. Each car will be individually numbered and the dash’s carbon fiber panel will display an image of the seven planes in their signature Avenger flight formation.

The Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series will debut at the Boeing Seafair Airshow on July 31 in Seattle and the key for each car will be handed over to its new owner by the corresponding plane’s pilot. That is, only after they’ve experienced a flight in the jet that inspired their car.

“The Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series demonstrates the level of customization Mulliner can achieve for customers,” said Geoff Dowding, Director of Mulliner. “Creating this very special edition has been an exciting experience for the entire team, taking inspiration from the Breitling Jet Team’s grand tour.”

Osamu Suzuki, who’s 85 years old, has appointed his son, Toshihiro Suzuki, 56 years old, to the COO position. Despite his advanced years the elder Suzuki will continue to serve as chairman and CEO.

In addition to this management change the company also has a new board of directors. Osamu Honda has been nominated chief technology officer and Yasuhito Harayama as vice chairman.

Going forward it appears as though Toshihiro is the heir apparent to family-controlled Suzuki. However, there is no news when this transition might take place.

Despite bowing out of the American automotive market back in late 2012 Suzuki is still a strong global player. It has joint ventures deals with other OEMs all over the world and is famous for its power products, things like motorcycles and ATVs.

The front ends found on the latest crop of Ram pickups are generating some controversy. The Rebel model’s face in particular is as bold as it is polarizing. But did you know this look was inspired by beards? Apparently it’s true.

The story is much the same with the Ram Laramie Limited, which is slathered in more chrome than a 1960s station wagon. It’s big, it’s bold and likewise it’s controversial.

These trucks have been turning heads for decades, particularly since the groundbreaking 1994 model came out. It was a watershed moment for the automotive industry and one that vastly increased FCA’s slice of the light-duty truck market.

The British automaker announced earlier this year that its revival plan involves launching four new sports cars by 2025, with the first going on sale in 2017. Although it has shown very little of what the new model will look like, the reborn British automaker has already opened up the order books much sooner than initially anticipated. According to TVR, “sports-car enthusiasts the world over are lining up to buy what promises to be one of the most exciting new sports cars of the decade.” Those eager to be early adopters of TVR’s newest wares will have to part ways with £5000 ($7,800) for a deposit.

The German automaker has been spotted testing its next-generation sports sedan and while the spy photos don’t reveal anything new since it’s still heavily camouflaged, details on the model have surfaced. BMW will upgrade the current M5’s 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine to deliver in excess of 600 hp! The current car offers just 552 ponies, leaving room for more hardcore variants to break the 650-hp mark. But it’s not all power that will make the M5 faster than ever. The new platform on which this car will be built is expected to shed around 220 pounds compared to the current model, giving it an even more impressive power-to-weight ratio.

As we reported earlier, the next-generation M5 will also benefit from optional xDrive all-wheel drive with a rear-biased setup. What is still unclear is whether it’ll be offered with a manual transmission or if the dual-clutch transmission will be the only choice. Expect the 2017 BMW M5 to go on sale late 2017 or early 2018.
